GEMINI_GENERATE_IMAGE generates an image from a text description and returns a downloadable image URL (result.image_url, valid for 24 hours). Five models are available: gemini-3.1-flash-image (Nano Banana, fast and efficient, the default), gemini-nano-banana-2.1 (Nano Banana 2.1, its successor at half the image price), gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image (Nano Banana Lite, same image price as Nano Banana 2.1), gemini-3-pro-image (Nano Banana Pro, high-fidelity professional output) and gemini-2.5-flash-image (retiring 2027-03-15 — steps that select it keep running on it, and are priced at its rate, until that date; from then on they run on gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image and are priced at that model’s rate). The aspect_ratio input accepts 1:1 (Square, the default), 3:4 (Portrait), 4:3 (Standard), 9:16 (Mobile Portrait), or 16:9 (Landscape).

Notes

  • GEMINI_INVOKE, GEMINI_INVOKE_WITH_IMAGE, and GEMINI_INVOKE_WITH_FILE accept a temperature config value (0–2, default 0.7). It is only sent to Gemini models older than 3.6 (for example gemini-2.5-flash). Gemini 3.6 and later fix their sampling parameters, so for those models and for the auto-advancing -latest aliases (gemini-flash-latest, the default) the value is omitted from the request and has no effect.
